Mission Statement                
San Rafael Sanctuary, Inc. restores human dignity, hope, and self-esteem to homeless and at-risk individuals seeking to improve their lives. We provide transitional employment and vocational training in a supportive, interfaith spiritual environment embracing all cultures and building inner strength as we break down employment barriers.

We received our 501(c)3 designation letter on May 23, 2023! Your donations are 100% tax-deductible.  We are thankful to all of our donors and supporters who are bringing us one step closer to opening our doors!

We rely on donations and grants to create opportunities for our brothers and sisters in Christ to break the cycle of homelessness and enter the job market with competitive skills that will secure good paying jobs.  

San Rafael Sanctuary, Inc. was founded by Susan Rainer.  This program is 3-years in the making as program adjustments were made to withstand the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the pandemic, homelessness has skyrocketed to over 61,000, and the number of at-risk adults has surged.  Many businesses have closed, and many Angelenos have lost their jobs.  We are here to bring hope to all who have the will to get back up.  Through a spiritual healing approach, our program participants have the support system they need to get back up on their feet and support themselves through a 1-year paid transitional vocational employment program that includes strong mentorship and internship programs that have been woven into the overall program.
